Western Gate and Choctawhatchee Chapters Monthly Activities
Activity Participants: Please contact the activity leader well in advance for more information and/or to reserve your place.  Unless instructed otherwise, 
each  participant should bring (at a minumum): day pack, sufficient water (recommended minimum: 2 quarts), sun protection (hat, glasses, screen), 
insect repellent,  food, appropriate clothing for the weather forecast, and comfortable sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots with socks.  Additionally, 
work hike participants should  wear long pants, and bring work gloves and extra water. Appropriate safety equipment will be provided depending upon 
the type of work to be performed.  Activity leaders may deny participation in any event when a participant appears to be insufficiently prepared.

Eglin Recreation Permits are Required for activities on Eglin Air Force Base.
Eglin Recreation Permits can be obtained from the Jackson Guard which is located on Highway 85 in Niceville just north of Highway 20.  Permits may be purchased by mail. For each permit requested, send a photocopy of either a driver license or identification card which contains your full name, current address (include zip code), current phone number and date of birth. Specify the type of permit desired (hiking, camping). To ensure a timely reply, submit your request at least three weeks before you will need the permit. Submit proper remittance for permits ( $12. 00 each ) by money order, cashiers check, or personal check made payable to DFAS-DEDSSN3801. Cash is not accepted through the mail. Send your permit request and payment to:   Eglin Natural Resources Branch, 107 Highway 85 North, Niceville, FL 32578,  Tel: 850-882-4164.
Permits may be picked up at Eglin AFB Natural Resources Branch (Jackson Guard Office). Office hours are Mon-Thurs 7-4:30, Fri 7-6, Sat 7-12:30; Sunday and Holidays - closed
