FTA Chapters throughout the state

The Western Gate Chapter and the Choctawhatchee Chapter, are the most northwestern chapters in the Florida Trail Association.  They draw their members  from Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties.  They are dedicated to hiking, camping and the enjoyment of the outdoors.  They also build and  maintain trails in the 4 county region.  Completed trails are the Jackson Red Ground trail in Blackwater State Forest and the Gulf Islands National Seashore  section of the Florida Nation Scenic Trail.  One part of the Western Gate's trails extends through the Blackwater State Forest northward to the Alabama line.
At present, both chapters are building sections of the Florida National Scenic Trail through Eglin Air Force Base.  It is our dream that one day there will be a  continuous footpath from the Everglades of Florida to Mount Katadin in Maine.. The trails the chapters are building today are part of that dream.
